Outer Banks Fishing Reports from Al’s Gal Sportfishing

We do upload photos to this website periodically, but our Outer Banks Fishing Reports are updated on our Facebook page almost every day. Our fishing reports are mostly photos of our
offshore fishing charters lined up behind their fish so you can see exactly what is biting out of Oregon Inlet.

We regularly catch yellowfin tuna, mahi mahi, marlin, and wahoo, and our reports give you a real look at what Outer Banks fishing looks like throughout the season.

Dockside Photos and Fish Cleaning at Oregon Inlet

After all of the photos of the fish and the fishing charter are taken, the fish cleaners pick up the fish and take them to the cleaning station. Customers can keep their fish whole if they prefer, but almost everyone chooses the convenience of using the fish cleaners. The fish cleaners at the Oregon Inlet Fishing Center take care of the meat quickly and efficiently. They charge by the pound, and it is very reasonable to have them clean your fish so you can relax, grab lunch, and think about how you want to cook your catch.

How We Fish Offshore in the Gulf Stream

Most of these fish are caught trolling in the Gulf Stream, where warm water brings tuna, mahi, marlin, and wahoo into range. In addition, we do some bottom fishing when charters want variety, especially when guests ask for tilefish and other deep-water species. This mix of trolling and bottom fishing keeps rods bending and gives every group a chance at different kinds of fish.

Sometimes the offshore fishing slows down, so we will come in a little bit and target tilefish to keep coolers filling. As a result, our Outer Banks Fishing Reports show a blend of big-game trolling days and productive deep-drop trips. Overall, this approach lets us adjust to conditions and still send our crews home with great photos and plenty of fillets.

Outer Banks Fishing Seasons & Best Time to Go

We fish in the Gulf Stream primarily during the months between April and November, which is prime time for tuna, mahi, marlin, and wahoo. If you are planning a trip, you can check the seasonal patterns and then choose a date that fits your group.
